I'm not sure if the MXs support anything other than 19200/8/no parity/one stop bit. But the 80byte buffer could be causing a problem with so many probes etc. on (Although it's really not doing that much imo). As all the command are sent down usb, I believe the on;y rs232 comms is onboard the device itself anyway. It may be worth trying to find a better shielded cable as I know this problem once came up before (But cable was running past a PSU).

I'll look into the ERR again...
